
US Vice-president Dick Cheney on Friday accused China of pursuing military policies that were at odds with its stated ambitions of a "peaceful rise".
Mr Cheney welcomed Beijing's role in securing the six-party agreement with North Korea towards denuclearising the Korean peninsula.
But he said China's recent anti-satellite missile test and the rapid expansion in its military budget was sending mixed signals.
